UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt has announced the unexpected death of assistant chancellor for the access campuses, including UWO-Fond du Lac, Martin Rudd. An email sent Monday by chancellor Leavitt says Rudd died over the weekend. Leavitt called Rudd’s passing “unexpected.” “Martin was not just a colleague, but a friend and an integral part of students’ and our organization’s success,” Leavitt said. For 15 years Rudd worked as the regional executive officer and dean and professor of chemistry at UW Colleges in Madison. He was named to his current role at UWO in July 2018. Fond du Lac County executive Sam Kaufman says Rudd was an advocate in support of the Fond du Lac campus and called his death a major loss. A memorial will be held in the coming days.
