10-20-23 fdl armed standoff update

The state Justice Department has released the names of the Sheriff’s deputy and subject involved in a deadly armed standoff in Fond du Lac last weekend.  According to a DOJ press release Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy Blaine Evans had responded to a disturbance involving weapons on the 500 block of Drury Place last Saturday morning when he encountered 34 year old Kyle Massie inside a vehicle.  Shortly after the officer arrived gunfire was exchanged and Massie was pronounced dead at the scene.  Evans has been a law enforcement officer for five years.  He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the DOJ.  Meanwhile, a K9 officer injured during the incident continues to recover.  Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office Canine Iro was shot and seriously wounded during the incident.  Iro is continuing to receive critical care at a veterinarian hospital, according to the DOJ.
