The League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area is hosting our Annual Holiday Gala Meeting on Thursday, November 9, 2023. The event will begin with a social hour at 5:30pm at Vines and Rushes, 410, County Road E, Ripon WI. A buffet dinner will follow at 6:30pm. The program will begin at 7:00pm. Several years ago, League featured a program on how to run for public office. We will again offer that program for anyone interested in demystifying the process of running for office. We again offer the program as part of our programming this fall to better help people to become engaged in their local communities by elected public service. Running for office is somewhat different than serving in office. Also, each person has a different motivation for wishing to serve. The panel will consist of Lisa Frieberg, Fond du Lac County Clerk, Naomi Miller, City of Ripon Clerk and elected official David Gallops of the Ripon City Council. The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
