A Fond du Lac man convicted in connection with a stabbing incident outside a Fond du Lac tavern is going to prison. Fond du Lac County Circuit judge Tricia Walker sentenced 32 year old Vickendricka Jones to 19 years in prison followed by 20 years extended supervision. In August Jones pleaded no contest to attempted first degree intentional homicide. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says the stabbing occured outside the Press Box Tavern on Forest Avenue following an argument. “If not for the medical intervention of the surgeon and wonderful medical professionals at St. Agnes Hospital, he (victim) would have died,” Toney told WFDL news. Toney says too many people are growing up in environments where violent behavior has become normalized. “The community has the right to feel safe and be safe anywhere in public, at any time of day or night. The actions of this defendant stole the sense of security from our community and nearly cost a man his life. I hope Judge Walker’s sentence helps restore that sense of security and sends a clear message that violence in our community is not tolerated by the justice system.” Toney says Jones has an extensive criminal history in Arkansas dating back to 2010 and still has eight open cases in Fond du Lac County.
