A West Bend man faces charges in connection with a fatal hit and run crash in Fond du Lac County. The 19 year old man is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of Hit and Run-Resulting in Death. He is accused of striking a 19 year old Hartford woman after she was ejected from a vehicle involved in a rollover crash on Highway 45 near Sandy Road early Sunday morning. She was found dead after being dragged by the vehicle for three miles into Washington County. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant of Detectives Chris Randall told WFDL news it’s hard to believe the hit and run driver didn’t know he had struck someone and was dragging a person with his car. “I don’t know how anyone could not know,” Randall told WFDL news. “This is very hard to fathom. This is absolutely tragic.” Randall says investigators believe the occupants of both vehicles knew each other. “There’s a lot of question marks here and people like you and I are like how did this happen and at this point in time there really isn’t a good answer.” Four other occupants of the vehicle that rolled over were injured, one critically. Randall says that person is expected to survive. Randall says alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
