Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a barn in Fond du Lac County. Shortly after 3pm Thursday firefighters from 14 departments were called to the Karl Gudex farm on Swallow Lane in the town of Ashford for a skid steer on fire in a barn. A passing snowmobiler noticed the fire and called 911. When firefighters arrived the barn was fully engulfed in flames. The skid steer, two hay wagons, tractor, lawnmower, ATV, bale chopper and gravity boxes were destroyed. Seventy two cattle were safely removed from the barn. A faulty block heater on the skid steer is the apparent cause of the fire.
