A West Bend man arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run crash in Fond du Lac County has made his initial court appearance. Jatziel Encarnacion is charged with hit and run causing great bodily harm. He is accused of striking a 19 year old woman after she was ejected from a vehicle involved in an earlier crash on Highway 45 near the Fond du Lac-Washington County line. Investigators say the victim was dragged by Encarnacion’s vehicle for three miles where she was found dead in the roadway in Washington County. However Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says investigators believe the victim died as a result of injuries from the initial crash, and not from being struck and dragged by Encarnacion’s vehicle. He is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on $250,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 25th.
