Wisconsin earns mostly failing grades for tobacco control policies in the latest American Lung Association’s ‘State of Tobacco Control’ report. The 22nd annual report finds that Wisconsin received two F grades, two D grades, and one B grade to prevent and reduce tobacco use. Fond du Lac County Tobacco Prevention and Control coordinator Johanna Brotz says the state received F grades for funding state tobacco prevention programs and ending the sale of all flavored tobacco products and D grades for access to services to quit tobacco and state tobacco taxes. Wisconsin received a B grade for the strength of it’s smokefree workplace laws. The Lung Association is calling on the White House to finalize rules to end the sales of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars in the United States.
