A Deforest man is in custody following a high speed chase in Dodge County. Shortly after 2am Sunday a sheriff’s deputy observed a car speeding on state Highway 16/60 east of Columbus, and the suspect vehicle accelerated to speeds in excess of 130 miles an hour. The pursuing deputy briefly lost sight of the car and stopped pursuing. The chase ended when another deputy pulled over the vehicle on Highway 60 in the town of Clyman. The driver, 21 year old Payton Lopez, from DeForest, Wisconsin faces charges of fleeing an officer and possession of THC. A female passenger was released from the scene without charges.
