The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board will be assisting workers who are being laid off from the Del Monte Foods Plant in Markesan. Development Board CEO Anthony Snyder says 90 workers at Del Monte Foods are being laid off as early as April 26. Snyder says most of the nonunion employees who are affected by the layoffs are full-time. “Del Monte indicated there had simply been a decrease in sales of their particular product. In this case the Del Monte plant primarily produces canned green beans,” Snyder said. “Sales ramped up during the pandemic, and then demand seems have fallen.” Snyder says he is confident the Workforce Development Board will be able to assist many of the workers find new jobs. The Workforce Development Board will also assist more than 300 workers who are being laid off in June when Lakeside Book company closes its print production plant in Menasha. Snyder made the comments on AM 1170s Between the Lines program.
