3-20-24 fdl high school delegation attends model government conference

Madison, WI – Fond du Lac High School’s Youth in Government delegation recently attended the statewide Model Government conference in Madison. The delegation showcased its students’ skills and dedication in a simulation of state government operations across legislative, judicial and media branches.  The event was marked by several standout performances from Fond du Lac High School students. Cooper Kleinke’s legislative proposal received the honor of being signed into “law” by the Youth Governor, a testament to the practicality and innovation of his ideas. Shaynah Lewis was awarded the Outstanding Delegate accolade in the judicial arena for her exceptional work in the Supreme Court, demonstrating her adept understanding of legal processes and advocacy.  In the media branch, Takoda Fry was recognized as the Outstanding Delegate, highlighting his keen insights and journalistic skills. Additionally, Aliyah Thompson’s election as the Statewide Media Director, placing her on the prestigious Statewide Elected Seven Council, speaks volumes of her leadership qualities and vision for youth engagement in media.  These accolades are not just personal achievements but reflect the collective spirit and support of the Fond du Lac community. We thank the Fond du Lac YMCA, the Colwin Family, the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, the Fond du Lac Bar Association and Fond du Lac High School for their unwavering support. A special thanks to Cassandra Van Gompel and FHS teacher Molly Carney, whose dedication and volunteerism have guided our delegation to success.  The achievements at the Model Government Conference underscore the talent, hard work and community spirit of Fond du Lac High School’s Youth in Government participants.
