The North Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission is expected to appoint Pete Vergos as the new police chief this week. Vergos has been serving as acting chief since Darren Pautsch retired in January. Vergos previously worked in the North Fond du Lac Police Department from 2003 to 2008 before joining the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office where he spent 13 years. He returned to the North Fond du Lac PD two years ago. The Police and Fire Commission will take up the matter at their meeting Tuesday.
