3-27-24 dodge county treasurer gives lowdown on lottery credits

Dodge County Treasurer, Kris Keith, is informing county taxpayers about the new lottery credit online portal to apply for or remove lottery credits.   “The Wisconsin Lottery and Gaming Credit provides direct property tax relief to qualifying taxpayers  on their property tax bills,” Keith said.   Keith says that the 2023 lottery credit was around $200 and often more. The  lottery credit is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (WDOR).   Keith reminds residents that to qualify, “you must be a Wisconsin resident, own a dwelling and use it as your primary residence as of January 1 each year”.   A property owner may only claim one credit.   Keith says this is also says this is a good time of year to review your tax bill and see if you did or did not get the lottery credit. Look on the top right of your tax bill to see if you received the credit.
