The Winnebago County District Attorney has determined that no criminal charges will be filed against a North Fond du Lac police officer involved in a deadly shooting incident following a traffic stop earlier this year. The decision follows an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. On February 2nd North Fond du Lac police officer Bryce LaLuzerne initiated a traffic stop in the village of North Fond du Lac. The vehicle fled the scene and eventually came to a stop after driving over a tire deflation device on Interstate 41 near County Hwy Z in Winnebago County. According to the DOJ the driver, Lawrence Drennen, called 911 and said he had a gun, and then exited the vehicle and approached law enforcement. Officer LaLuzerne shot Drennen who died at the scene. The officer has been on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
