BEAVER DAM – Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) announced today that he will seek reelection, to the Wisconsin State Assembly, and issued the following statement:
“It has been an honor representing our communities in the State Assembly. I look forward to spending time with the constituents of the 37th Assembly District discussing our recent accomplishments and hearing their thoughts on the work yet to be done. I appreciate the trust the voters placed in me with their strong support in past elections. I respectfully ask for their votes again as we continue to move Wisconsin forward.”
“The new legislative maps will bring a new district number and some changes to the areas I have historically represented. I will now be running in the 37th Assembly District. Although, I am certainly sad to be losing parts of Dodge County that I have represented for years, I am excited to be adding new communities such as Waupun, Randolph, Fox Lake, and parts of southern Fond du Lac County.” This session, the Wisconsin Legislature accomplished important initiatives including historic investments in public schools, local roads, workforce development, and efforts to reduce the rapidly growing costs of healthcare. The Legislature also enacted a major reform to shared revenue to help local governments provide public safety and the other services residents expect. “I am proud of our accomplishments this session, as we invested in our future financially and continued our efforts to reduce taxes and reform government. We have also built on existing efforts to assist our communities and families dealing with significant challenges with healthcare costs, drug addiction, and dementia.” As the Assembly Co-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee, Representative Born led the way in crafting the 2023-25 state budget. Mark prioritized important investments in education, healthcare, and local roads and championed the state’s historic investment in corrections and public safety. He also continued to advocate for tax relief despite the Governor’s opposition to returning portions of the state surplus to the taxpayers. Born continues to be active in the community by serving on the Dodge County Historical Society Board of Curators and Leadership Beaver Dam Steering Committee. He is a member of Trinity Church – United Methodist in Beaver Dam, Watertown/Beaver Dam Elks Lodge 666, Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association, Ducks Unlimited, and Friends of The Horicon Marsh. Born is serving his sixth term in the Wisconsin State Assembly, currently representing the 39th District. A lifelong resident of the district, Mark resides in Beaver Dam with his wife Liberty, their daughter, and their dog Jenna. The 37th Assembly District includes the following twenty-one municipalities: In Dodge County the Townships of Beaver Dam, Burnett, Calamus, Chester, Fox Lake, Leroy, Lomira, Trenton, and Westford; the Villages of Brownsville, Kekoskee, Lomira, and Randolph; the Cities of Beaver Dam, Fox Lake, Mayville, and Waupun.
