4-15-24 fdl school district may face operations referendum in the near future

Several school districts across Wisconsin asked voters for permission during last week’s spring election to spend millions of dollars in operations referendums and the Fond du Lac School District superintendent says it may be on the horizon for the Fond du Lac School District.  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig says concerns about the state underfunding public education has been debated for the past 30 years and says the district is forecasting a major budget deficit next year.  Dr. Fleig says the Fond du Lac School District is facing a potential budget shortfall of $4.9 million dollars next year.    “We haven’t had one (operations referendum) yet,”  Dr. Fleig told WFDL news.  “I think it’s something the board is going to have to consider in the future if we are to continue to fund some of the programming we’re doing where we’re getting great results.”
