Scams can impact every business regardless of location, size or industry. But they are especially a problem for small businesses. The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau is out with it’s top 10 scams targeting small businesses. The BBBs Lisa Schiller says Business email compromise fraud is essentially an email phishing scam. Schiller says phony invoices are a problem because generally the amount is small enough to not initially raise a red flag. Schiller says directory scams have plagued businesses for decades. Scammers often pretend to be legitimate companies to trick consumers. Other scams involve charity pitches, coupon books, phishing scams, office supply scams, vanity award scams and overpayment scams.
