St. Mary’s Church in downtown Fond du Lac is celebrating the rededication of a civil-war era bell with a new automated bell system. Holy Family Catholic Community’s Sarah Razner says the 2,000 pound bronze bell has rung throughout downtown Fond du Lac for more than 150 years. Razner says the bell, named the “Immaculate Conception,” was installed in the original St. Mary Church in 1866. A rededication ceremony was held Monday morning outside the church on the corner of Merrill Avenue and Marquette Street.
