Nobody was injured in a fire that caused significant damage to a home in Fond du Lac. Shortly before 11am Saturday firefighters were called to a report of a basement fire in the 300 block of East Division Street to find flames showing from the basement windows. Everyone in the home had safely evacuated. The fire was extinguished but not before it caused extensive damage to the basement and first floor of the home. Firefighters rescued three pet dogs in the home. The age of the home, type of building construction, and high winds aided the fire in spreading quickly from the basement to the first floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
