Investigators believe either a candle or electrical extension power strip may have started a fire that caused extensive damage to a Fond du Lac home over the weekend. Jason Roberts with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says the Saturday morning fire in the 300 block of East Division Street started in a basement bedroom. Roberts says while investigators can’t say for sure it appears either an extension power strip or candle started the fire. Meanwhile, Roberts says the occupants of the home inadvertantly aided the fire’s spread from the basement to the first floor by trying to ventilate the house of smoke. Nobody was injured in the fire and three pet dogs were rescued from the home. The home is uninhabitable.
