5-16-24 ssm health to host ‘heartmath’ biofeedback groups

The SSM Health Behavioral Health team at 40 Camelot Drive in Fond du Lac will be hosting two HeartMath Biofeedback Groups this summer to help participating children improve their mental and emotional well-being, increase calmness and focus in school and home situations, prevent depression and stress-related disorders, and reduce anxiety and fatigue.  Sessions start on Monday, June 10 with Robyn Williams, LPC, as facilitator.  “HeartSmarts Adventures: Learn to Self-Regulate Emotions and Behaviors (Level 1)” is designed for children ages five to seven years old and is scheduled over six weeks from 11:30 am – 12 pm.  This group teaches children the important connection between the heart and mind. Group members will practice biofeedback strategies to improve recognition of emotions, self-regulate stressful emotions, and overcome blocks to learning. This group is aimed at helping children learn this mind-body connection to support healthy choices and smart behaviors.  “Smart Brain Wise Heart: Learn to Self-Regulate Emotions and Behaviors (Level 2)” is designed for children ages eight to 11 years old and is scheduled over eight weeks from 12:30 – 1 pm. This group draws on the best of young people’s brains and hearts to help empower them to make smarter decisions, gain greater self-control, and navigate the academic and social dimensions of life with greater ease.  Group members will learn biofeedback strategies to improve recognition of emotions and self-regulation skills to improve performance and decrease emotional reactivity.  For more information or to register a child, call 920-907-8201.
