The Waupun Fire Chief says a Fire and Response staffing study outlines a path for a predictable and sustainable future for fire and EMS in the community. The study makes a number of recommendations including expanding the paid on call roster and combining city and community fire services. Waupun Fire Chief BJ Demaa says the cost savings could be significant. The study points out that in a combination department, the city could use added revenue to add full time staff to complement paid on call firefighters and EMRs. The study recommends the increasing number of paid on call firefighters by ten to ensure adequate coverage.
