A new AAA travel forecast predicts one of the busiest Memorial Day travel periods in Wisconsin since the turn of the millennium this year. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says this year’s holiday season is expected to be the busiest since 2019. Jarmusz says Memorial Day is the traditional start to a very busy summer travel season. The AAA forecast shows nearly 817,000 Wisconsinites are expected to travel, up four percent from last year. Nationally, 43.8 million people will travel over the holiday weekend, up five percent from 2023.
