The Justice Department last week formally moved to reclassify marijuana to a less dangerous drug, a historic shift in generations of U.S. drug policy. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says she thinks its a good move. Mueller says a proposed rule sent to the federal register recognizes medical uses of cannabis and acknowledges it has less potential for abuse than some of the most dangerous drugs. The Drug Enforcement Administration will take public comment on the proposal to move marijuana from its classification as a Schedule 1 drug, alongside heroin and LSD. It moves pot to Schedule III, alongside some anabolic steroids.
