Two women were rescued after their kayaks capsized on the Rock River in Fond du Lac County over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Shortly before 7:30pm Saturday the Fond du Lac County dispatch center received a call from one of the women who said they were stuck in downed timber in the river and unable to free themselves in the swift current. A good Samaritan was in the water helping the women stay above the water when a sheriff’s sergeant arrived just north of Highway 49 near Church Road. The sergeant used water rescue equipment to keep both persons afloat and safely pull them to shore. The 40 year old Beaver Dam woman and 52 year old Waupun woman were not injured.
