Nearly a month after fire caused significant smoke and water damage Culver’s restaurant on West Pioneer Road in Fond du Lac celebrated it’s reopening and thanked the first firefighters who battled the blaze. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday to honor the first responders and to say thank you for saving their restaurant building. Culver’s co-founder Craig Culver says shortly after the fire there was a question about how long it would be or whether the restaurant was going to be able to reopen at all. But he says Fond du Lac is a caring community. “…the Fire, Rescue, Police…They’re all working together with the community,” Culver told WFDL news. “They certainly helped us out in a big, big way.” Owner Anna Lohmann says on Tuesday any first responder received a free Culver’s meal as a thank you for their service. Lohmann says before the fire the restaurant was undergoing a major remodeling.
