The state epidemiologist says when it comes to the bird flu its an “all hands on deck” situation for veterinary medicine, public health and agriculture. Doctor Ryan Westergaard says while the risk to the general public is still very low it is concerning that bird flu is now starting to infect other mammals including dairy cows and cats. Doctor Westergaard says the focus now is trying to determine how far bird flu has spread and to try to slow it down. Dr. Westergaard made the comments in an exclusive interview with WFDL news.
