Here are some nomination comments.

Kristy is always one to do whatever is best for her patients, co-workers, department, and organization. She has accomplished this by always being available to assist others, as well as increasing her own professional knowledge. She currently holds a VA-BC (vascular access board certified) certification. She uses this knowledge to not only assist in patient care, but to help educate & train other staff, and also assist with policy review.

Kristy is a ‘go-to’ person. She continually makes herself available to her team 24/7 to help troubleshoot. She never wants anyone to feel as if they are alone during a crisis.

Kristy will involve any person or department necessary to ensure patients have safe and excellent care that is needed. When home care had a referral for a patient to receive Renflexis in the home, she set up the process for both home infusion and home care staff as this has not been done by either department.

There are not enough words to describe Kristy’s contributions to the department, the facility, the organization, and myself. She regularly assists others increase their knowledge and cares and makes herself available to everyone. She is the epitome of what all staff should be like. She an absolute joy to have on the team and as the lead.

DAISY first began honoring nurses in 1999 after Bonnie and Mark Barnes’ son, Patrick, died at age 33 from an autoimmune disease. While Patrick was hospitalized, the Barnes family was overwhelmed by the care they received from nurses.  After their son’s death, they launched the foundation as a meaningful way to honor the compassionate care nurses display every day.  Recipients of the award receive a certificate, lapel pin and sculpture with a personalized plaque.
