An emergency response unit from the Dodge Correctional Institution was called to the Waupun Correctional Institution Thursday afternoon after several inmates refused to return to their cells from the prison recreation area. Sources told WFDL news there were as many as 19 inmates involved. Sources also tell WFDL news that as many as 12 correctional officers called in sick Thursday. All of this happened a day after the Dodge County Sheriff ‘s Office announced that felony charges had been filed against the Waupun Prison warden and eight staff members following the investigation into the deaths of four inmates over the past year.
