A Waupun Correctional Institution officer was transported to the hospital after he was attacked by an inmate at the prison Wednesday. Sources tell WFDL news the officer was part of a three-man escort of an inmate to see a nurse in the restricted housing unit and was attacked in the housing unit’s nurse room. The officer was transported to Waupun Memorial Hospital and treated for cuts to his head. The Waupun prison is short staffed and the officer was on a two week loan from another correctional facility.
