The Fond du Lac County Board has approved the formation of an ad hoc committee to continue to map out plans for a future new, expanded Fond du Lac County Jail. County executive Sam Kaufman says the current jail is at capacity and something needs to be done. Kaufman says the county no longer receives revenue from housing out of county inmates. The county is planning to build a new jail on farm land adjacent to the county Highway Garage on Hickory Road. A farmer is currently leasing the property until the county is ready to build the new jail.
