The Fond du Lac County Board chairman says a county jail ad hoc committee is comprised of five counties board supervisors and five members of the public. The committee was formed to explore options for a new or expanded jail. County board supervisors are Tom Dornbrook, John Venhuizen, Dean Will, Mike Will, and Kathryn Griffith. Community members are sheriff’s chief deputy Kevin Galske, school board president Mark Henschel, Dr. George Koonce from Marian University and insurance agent Sam Meyer. Board chairman Steve Abel says while the committee does not have a specific timeline to make recommendations, but he’s hoping that can happen before the end of the year. The county has purchased land for a new jail near the county highway garage on Hickory Road.
