7-9-24 cancer vaccine trial

Doctors are trialling in hundreds of patients the world’s first personalized mRNA vaccine for melanoma, as experts hailed its game changing potential to permanently cure cancer.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says melanoma affects about 132,000 people a year globally and is the biggest skin cancer killer.  Experts are testing new vaccines that are custom-built for each patient and tell their body to hunt down cancer cells to prevent the disease from ever coming back.    A phase2 trial found the vaccines dramatically reduced the risk of the cancer returning in melanoma patients.  A final phase 3 trial was recently launched.
