7-11-24 rockonsin youth garage band finalists to perform at bluesfest

WAUKESHA, WI – July 9, 2024 – Waukesha Rotary BluesFest, “An American Music Festival” presented by the Waukesha Rotary Club will be held Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10, 2024 at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, located 1/2 mile north of I-94 on STH 83.  Gates open at 12:30pm each day with the music running from 1:00pm until 10:00pm.  Festival Headliners for the 17th Annual festival, giving a nod to the “next generation of blues”, are Ally Venable on Friday and GA-20 on Saturday, with a full support lineup each day.  Friday, August 9th at Waukesha Rotary BluesFest will include recognition of the state’s hardworking young musicians with a featured performance at 1pm by ROCKONSIN Student Band Competition Finalists, The Lightways. The Lightways, are a four piece rock band featuring students from Germantown Kennedy Middle School, Sussex Hamilton High School, Brookfield East High School and a home-schooled student. The band was one of 10 finalists statewide that competed in the 2024 ROCKONSIN Youth Garage Band Competition at Summerfest this year.  The Lightways also participated in the 2023 ROCKONSIN competition. ROCKONSIN is the only statewide band competition open to 7th through 12th grade musicians in the nation. One band is selected from the finalists for a performance at Waukesha Rotary BluesFest.  The 2024 Waukesha Rotary BluesFest lineup also features Tinsley Ellis (solo acoustic) on Friday and Grammy winners Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band on Saturday.  Friday’s lineup includes Dave Steffen Band, Ohlschmidt Panosh and Cohen, Trick Bag with Kenny J., and The Lightways from the ROCKONSIN 2024 Youth Garage Band Competition.  Saturday’s lineup will also feature The Dig 3, Sweet Sheiks, Maple Road Blues Band, and Los Guys kicking off the afternoon.  Major sponsors of Waukesha Rotary BluesFest presented by the Waukesha Rotary Club, include Ascension Wisconsin Hospital, Therm-Tech Heat Treating Specialists and Keith & Betty Rupple Family Fund along with many other great supporters.  Discounted advance tickets for the festival are on sale now through Thursday, August 8th at www.waukeshabluesfest.com.
