A nurse has been bound over for trial in connection with the death of an inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institution. Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Thursday for 50 year old Gwendolyn Peachy Vick on a charge of abuse of residents of a penal facility in the death of 24 year old Cameron Williams. A Dodge County Sheriff’s detective testified that Vick determined it was not medically necessary to enter Williams’ cell after a different registered nurse had expressed concern about Williams’ health. Other prisoners said Williams had been begging for help in the weeks leading up to his death. Williams died of a stroke last October. Vick is one of nine correctional staff charged in the deaths of two inmates at the Waupun Prison.
