7-19-24 local resident announces bid for 27th assembly district seat

TAYCHEEDAH, WI – Local leader Kay Ladson announces her run as the Democratic candidate for the Wisconsin Assembly’s new 27th district. Ladson is running against two Republicans who will face a primary on the August ballot. The incumbent Terry Katsma, R-Oostburg, announced in April that he will not seek re-election after a decade in the Assembly, creating an open seat.  Ladson grew up in rural Wisconsin on a small dairy farm, which she cites as a source of her strong work ethic of diligence and excellence. Ladson received degrees of both a BE in Business Education and an MBA in Finance from the Universities of Wisconsin, before moving to Elkhart Lake to teach business education at the local high school. Throughout her professional career in business and education, Ladson understands the values and challenges of rural Wisconsin communities; she’s learned first-hand the importance of a balance between financial stability and investing in areas that can lead to future growth. Ladson represents a new voice for a new district and is committed to supporting all communities across the 27th through a pragmatic approach that focuses on implementing solutions.  Ladson issued the following statement in her announcement of candidacy: “In Wisconsin, we embrace hard work, the belief in opportunity for all and treating others how we want to be treated. Everyone should have the right to provide for themselves and their family and to live in a safe place. But some politicians try to divide us against each other – hoping that if we fear our neighbor – we might look the other way while they rig the rules for their corporate donors and watch as our communities suffer. When we go all in for all of us, we can make this a place we’re proud to call home with the roads, public schools and spaces, healthcare, and community services our families need. We can make this a place that honors everyone, no exceptions.”
Kay Ladson is a rural community leader who is prioritizing the needs for communities like her own. She’s committed to fighting for healthcare access and expansion, tackling the childcare crisis, and safeguarding our democracy and right to vote. She pledges to promote equal pay, equal opportunity, and fair treatment for all people.
