8-21-24 Update: Child struck by vehicle while on bike

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department wants to express our sincerest sympathies to the families, friends, and loved ones of Lincoln C. Menne (08/14/2018) who died yesterday while at the hospital from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle on August 21, 2024.
FDLPD has been in constant contact with the family and they want to share a photo of Lincoln’s smile, spirit and joy that he brought to so many.  Please continue to join the FDLPD and the Fond du Lac School District in keeping Lincoln’s family and friends in your thoughts during this most difficult time.
The Fond du Lac School District will have counselors available to assist any students who may need help processing this news. They will be available on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at both Waters Elementary and the Boys & Girls Club, as well as on Friday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Waters.
The Fond du Lac School District will also have counselors available in each of their schools once the school year begins on September 3. Fondy CARES is available for students and families who feel their student may need private, professional therapy. School counselors can help connect families to Fondy CARES services for their students.
The investigation into this accident remains under active investigation.  No further details or information are being released at this time. 

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at approximately 6:24 p.m. the City of Fond du Lac Police Department along with the City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responded to the 300 block of Grove Street for a report of a child who was struck by a vehicle.
The investigation into this accident is at the preliminary stages. Initial information provided leads FDLPD Officers to believe that a 6-year-old Fond du Lac child rode his bicycle into the street when he was stuck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Grove Street. A 41-year-old North Fond du Lac resident was operating the vehicle.
The 6-year-old child was transported to SSM Health (St. Agnes Hospital) by Fire/Rescue with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle received no injuries from the accident and is cooperating with law enforcement.
It is with deep sadness that we learned that the 6-year-old child died while at the hospital from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle.  Please join the FDLPD and Fond du Lac School District in keeping his family and friends in your thoughts during this most difficult time.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting FDLPD by conducting an accident reconstruction at the scene. Grove Street between S. Hickory Street and Superior Street will remain closed during the accident reconstruction.
The investigation into this accident remains under active investigation.  No further details or information are being released at this time.
