An incident at a Fond du Lac elementary school shows just how on edge residents are following the latest school shooting in Georgia last week. Shortly before 10am Thursday police were called for a report of a man dressed in all black clothing carrying what appeared to be a gun in a bag strapped around his shoulder who had just walker into Evans Elementary School. Police officers and Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded and the school followed safety protocols while the building was searched. The man was quickly located and it turns out he was carrying an umbrella. Chief Aaron Goldstein said, “I commend this citizen for immediately reporting the perceived threat and the Fond du Lac School District for initiating their protocols which allowed the FDLPD to respond, investigate and determine that the school was safe for everyone. The safety and security of our schools is a top priority.” No further details or information are being released at this time.
