MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – announced nine companies as recipients of the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award. For 34 years, WMC has presented this award to companies that have demonstrated environmental leadership through sustainability, stewardship and innovation. “Wisconsin’s businesses are often leading the way when it comes to environmental protection,” said WMC’s Director of Environmental & Energy Policy Adam Jordahl. “Employers find that sound environmental practices are beneficial beyond regulatory compliance; they’re good for the community, company culture, the bottom line, and the future of our state.” The program, sponsored by WM, seeks to demonstrate to state policymakers and the public that businesses are leading in sound environmental practices. Awards are presented based on company size (small, medium, and large categories) and type of environmental activity. Businesses must demonstrate they have made significant improvements in one of three areas: sustainability, environmental stewardship or environmental innovation. “Congratulations to this year’s winners,” added Jordahl. “We’re proud to partner with WM to highlight projects that demonstrate the continued commitment of Wisconsin industry to environmental protection.”
