(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) released the following statement regarding the second assassination attempt on Former President Donald Trump.
“It is alarming, but not surprising, that after 40 years of calm, President Donald Trump has been the subject of an assassination attempt for the second time in two months.
“Crazed rhetoric by leading Democrat politicians, including Kamala Harris herself, have said President Trump will try to get rid of democracy, whatever they mean by that since the United States is a Republic. It sounds like it will be the end of elections. I myself have run into people who believe this nonsense. Mainstream media outlets also report this rubbish. It is not surprising that some people have resorted to assassination in response to such heated rhetoric. “This is particularly bizarre because Donald Trump has already been president, and we know what he is like. He will increase domestic energy output, keep corporate tax rates competitive with other countries, and avoid unnecessary foreign wars. He did not try to turn the U.S. into a dictatorship, and I don’t know how one would even begin to do that. By the way, this is the same unhinged rhetoric that caused Congressman Steve Scalise to be subject to an assassination attempt in 2017. “I call upon all leading Democrat mouthpieces, ABC, NBC, CNN, to publicly state that Donald Trump is not a threat to democracy—and clarify what they meant by their statements.”
