Fond du Lac County is again trying to get federal money to build a railroad overpass at a county railroad crossing. The county board has approved a resolution authorizing the county Highway Commissioner to apply for a Federal Railroad Crossing grant for construction of an overpass at County Highway N or Kinker Road. County executive Sam Kaufman says the total project cost is estimated at close to $10 million. “We for the last few years have been applying left and right for grants. Senator Baldwin’s office has been extremely helpful in assisting us, but unfortunately the last few years, the congressional committee would not approve that project,” Kaufman told WFDL news. “We’re trying again.” Kaufman says it’s a project that “needs to get done.”
