10-3-24 bright horizon

A recent four week-long exercise focusing on the disaster recovery process is being described as the first of its kind in the nation.   Wisconsin Emergency  Management spokesperson Katie Rousonelos says the exercise, called Bright Horizon, included more than 250 participants over four weeks in August and September focusing on recovery efforts after a simulated flooding scenario.  She says it’s the first of its kind in the nation for focus solely on the disaster recovery process.  Rousenelos says five counties, including Calumet county participated in the exercise that began with counties transitioning from response to recovery operations and the set-up of a multi-agency resource center.  Following the exercise feedback is being gathered and a report will be compiled.
