The Fond du Lac Police Chief says a new ordinance that prohibits camping on public property does not change the department’s strategy in dealing with the homeless population with dignity, humanity and supportive services.  The Fond du Lac city council last monthapproved changes to the city’s public safety code to prohibit camping on public property in response to a growing homeless population in the city.   Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says he wants to make sure officers are on the same page in how this will be addressed once  the ordinance goes into effect.   So where are these people going to go?  Goldstein says that is still a concern.  Goldstein says the number of homeless people in Fond du Lac has increased significantly.  He says the bottom line is there is no easy answer to the situation.
