The Wisconsin Attorney General is critical of recent attempts to prevent the use of drop boxes in certain Wisconsin communities. The Wausau mayor removed a drop box at city hall only to have the city clerk put it back. Three town clerks in Dodge County decided against using drop boxes after the sheriff strongly urged them not to. Attorney General Josh Kaul says it’s an unfortunate continuation of baseless attacks on the integrity of our elections. Kaul says the system works. Kaul says if you don’t have a problem dropping off an absentee ballot in the mail then you shouldn’t have a problem with drop boxes. “If you take a step back and think logically about how people cast their ballots. People can vote by mail, they go to a postal box and put something in the mail. That’s a safe system,” Kaul told WFDL news. “A drop box is basically the same thing, except it’s only for ballots.”
