A major reconstruction project on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties starts Monday. The nearly $26 million year-long project covers more than 14 miles from County Highway D in Fond du Lac County to Highway 26 in Winnebago County. I-41 will remain open during the project with lane closures during off-peak and nighttime hours. According to the DOT, the project will include paving and structure maintenance on 10 bridges, construction of a new box culvert, nine box culvert extensions, culvert pipe work, slope grading, restoration, beam guard replacement, cable guard replacement, shouldering and pavement marking.
