The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau has a warning for residents: healthcare scams are after your personal information. The BBB’s Lisa Schiller says unfortunately healthcare scams are common especially now with Medicare Open Enrollment which runs through December 7th. Schiller says the scam typically starts with an email, text message, or phone call that appears to be from a government agency. Schiller says if you receive a call like this, don’t trust a name or number, hang up and go to official websites, and never share personally identifiable information. Guard your government-issued numbers. Schiller says Medicare will never contact you via email, text message or phone asking you to verify personal information.
