10-26-24 halloween trick or treating

The state Department of Corrections is working with local law enforcement across the state to closely monitor sex offenders on probation or parole and keep children safe during Halloween trick or treat activities.  Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says probation and parole agents working with police officers are conducting random home visits on high-risk sex offenders during trick or treat hours.   Individuals on the sex offender registry who are on probation or parole are prohibited from having Halloween decorations inside or outside their homes,  may not distribute candy or participate in other trick or treating activities and must keep their porch lights off during trick or treating. Trick or treat hours in Fond du Lac Saturday are from 3:30 pm to 5:30pm.  The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership is sponsoring a Monster March from 10am to noon where children in costume, accompanied by an adult,  may trick or treat for free at participating downtown businesses and farmers market vendors on Main Street.
