Hello Waupun,
I’m thinking more people will be reading this week’s column than usual, simply because watching TV is almost impossible right now. Every. Single. Commerical is political and about how the other person is the worst person in the world. I love politics and have done politics as either a job or a hobby for 25years, and even I’m sick of all the ads! With that said, Early Voting continues all week at Waupun City Hall, and Election Day voting takes place at the new Waupun Community Center. Speaking of the new Waupun Community Center, we opened it up last week. I held my first monthly Mayoral Listening Session there on Tuesday. I was honored to be joined by Mayor Julie who worked so hard to begin the process of building the new Community Center. We had over a hundred people show up to see us, and then take a tour of the new facility. The building is awesome, and I look forward to playing pickleball and shooting pool there. Today is Trick or Treat for the kiddos. Downtown Trick or Treating is at 2 and residential is at 4 to 6. I’ll be at city hall handing out candy, and I won’t be dressing up, because seeing me as mayor is scary enough! On Wednesday, I had the privilege of attending the Marian University Business and Industry Awards dinner where the Waupun Business Alliance won the Community Collaboration Award! It was awesome to see our downtown get so much positive attention at such a large gathering. Please note: Veterans Day is fast approaching, and because of the elevator at city hall having been struck by lightning, the Veterans Day Ceremony has been moved to The Rock Golf Club. I know Frank Mesa is telling people that the Mayor will buy everyone a drink who attends, but I’m not so sure about that!
Finally, on a personal note, I want to say Get Well Soon to my neighbor and friend, Bambi Buchholz!
Thank you and Happy Halloween Waupun!
Mayor Rohn
