The Fond du Lac School District superintendent is being criticized for how he treated teachers at Woodworth Middle School during a recent meeting. A number of former teachers, speaking on behalf of staff, addressed their concerns at Monday night’s school board meeting, accusing superintendent Dr Jeff Fleig of using fear and intimidation. One former teacher said “staff has lost their voice and no teacher deserves this type of unprofessional treatment.” On AM 1170s Between the Lines program Dr. Fleig says administration has been observing staff since the beginning of the school year and says he told Woodworth staff at the meeting they needed to act and teach in a more professional manner. Dr. Fleig says Woodworth failed to meet expectations on the school report card a year ago and he wanted to let teachers know that things need to improve quickly. Dr. Fleig says for too long the district has operated in the best interest of adults. “At the end of the day we educate kids and that’s the most important part of my job.”
