The niece of a counselor who was killed by an inmate at Wisconsin’s youth prison last summer says she is confident justice will ultimately be served in the case. A 16 year old boy is charged in the beating death of counselor Corey Proulx at the Lincoln Hills-Copper Lake prison June 24. In an exclusive interview with WFDL news Proulx’s niece, Elizabeth Leander, says it has been difficult sitting in the courtroom for the proceedings that are leading up to a trial. Leander says while not everyone in the family feels the same way, she is confident, in the end, justice will be served. She says the case shows that staff need to be given more leeway to protect themselves and youth inmates.
